: Can we PLEASE, for the lof of god, do something about AFKs in ARAM? I'm so tired of it.
And let me make a quick connection here in this parenthesis. This is only my opinion but it's a lingering hypothesis. Sometimes the only reason, it seems, that people want to stay in the game is because of the time spent in champion assignment and the time spent waiting for the game to load and the time they took to buy their items and walk to lane, or for the first measly kill they got in the first team fight with early cheese. No regards to for the early "ACE", no regards for our weaker late, nor the fact that they have two scaling tanks and an already-fed carry or their early kill streak MVP. I bet that initial investment is the same psychology behind people sticking to bad decisions. I bet it's not because they're actively invested in believing that they have a chance to win. That is very irksome. because, let's face it, ARAM is an unbalanced mess of a competitive game for a good portion of us, even if the popular trend is to gloss over that tidbit and diminish it with ranks and LPs. If I'm getting bad RNG, I wan to prove myself in that scenario in a fair 5v5. Not lamenting how this AFK warm body could've prevented one of us from getting killed in crucial plays for priority kills to get objectives for a fleeting chance at a comeback.

: Because you are complaining about a failed surrender vote. If your team refused to play, then report them all. But the rules are if the surrender vote doesn't go through, then you have to play the game. Your desire to not want to continue to play does not trump the other 3 people who supposedly do, hence the failed vote. Rito gave your team the option to end at 8 minutes. If your team, minus you, doesn't want to, then the game continues. I have many games where I have written off as a loss but still trapped in it for another 15-20 minutes. It's not like I don't know how that feels. However, my desire to leave does not trump a failed surrender vote. That's on my team, not Rito. If you don't like that rules, then don't play.

So if two people want to surrender, that's half of the team right there that doesn't want to play, it's split 50-50 and YET we're still stuck here playing the game. That's not unanimous, not even majority. Technically it's the majority that doesn't want to play the game because the person AFK doesn't automatically disappear--they're just somewhere else other than where they need to be. And if the person is sitting in base moving their character around, that's automatically two people who don't want to play, including me, but ok, I'll give it a shot. I've had people not even vote the game out because they're not even looking at the game and only come back to prevent the AFK warning. I've had people do that obnoxiously in the middle of the lane. That's also not unanimous nor majority, either. But let's entertain the idea that we all want to play. You have to play perfectly, and in my elo that rarely happens, but people are stubborn. So guess what, we get run over hard and we have to take it every single time. Sometimes it happens more than once in a row. We waste over 20 min sitting there pretending to be bots, for something that could've been over in 5 min. We could've moved on right away to something more productively fun for all parties involved. I've tried to be a good sport about it but it's getting ridiculous and hence the post. It's not fun, in fact, it's anti-fun. It's not fun when it happens regularly. It's the exact opposite of fair and balanced team play. I get that you wanna move the goal post, that's fine by me, but at least drag along your previous points if you do that.

: Because this is a team game. If the TEAM still wants to play, by the rules you have to keep playing. Otherwise, don't queue up if you're not willing to commit to a full game, afk/troll and all. If that's not acceptable to you, play something else.

If that's not acceptable to you, play something else. I'm sorry, I don't get the part where teammates unwilling to participate constitutes a "team game". You do realize that my whole team is put in a tremendous disadvantage by one person from my team, right? I'm sure you're well aware that SR games have implemented a remake system if a teammate doesn't connect within the first three minutes, precisely *because* it's a team game. Out of my last 5 games in my LAN account within the last few hours (I'm not even making this up) 3 had AFKs to various degrees, of which only 1 participated half the time, 1 connected once the enemy took two towers, and 1 never showed up at all. That's a 2/5 fair "team games", of which I only won one. That's 3/5 unenjoyable games from the get-go. I also don't get why I have to conform to your expectations of what a normal ARAM game should look like, or what you deem acceptable for others to endure on a regular basis. Why should I give up a whole game's mechanics and a game mode that I'm very fond of because you, some random guy on the internet, thinks this is acceptable behavior?
: >Can we PLEASE, for the lof of god, do something about AFKs in ARAM? >But if I got AFK because I don't want to deal with it, I get punished for "not being a good sport." Seems to me like punishing people for going AFK is doing something about it. Hmmmmmmmmmmm
Yeah, for me personally because I hate to have my account in such a state. But a lot of people don't care at all and it's driving me nuts. I'm just asking for an early surrender vote or something, cause it's punishing the rest of us who play by the rules. Or are you telling me that keeping me hostage is perfectly acceptable? Hmmmmm? A surrender vote at 8 min usually extends to 15-20 min because of these stubborn ass people. Why can't we get an automatic remake at 3-5 min for someone who didn't buy anything at all at that point?
