: Mordekaiser is way too much of a bully in lane
How does he have less skill expression than old Mordekaiser? New Mord has 2 skill shot abilities (his main source of damage his Q is a skill shot, and so is hia gap closer E. If he misses all these abilities, he becomes vulnerable, so there is a risk-reward factor to his kit). Mord's shield is almost the same as his old shield too in the way you stack it, but it has a heal now. He is also meant to be an offense-based juggernaut, so he has to feel like a lane bully to an extent, I mean look at Darius, Illaoi, Garen, Aatrox. They all have high base stats, and generally tanks cannot 1v1 a juggernaut. If you are struggling with him, maybe play some Fiora, Trundle, Olaf in top. They all have sustain, and strong dueling potential, and synergize even better with Conqueror's than Mord. Fiora outscales him, and has more outplay potential with her W and mobility. Olaf can just ult out of Mord's ult, and has a nasty early game with the resets of his axes, and his insane attack speed boost from his passive. Trundle can take hits and heal back most of the poke damage from his passsive and W by CS-ing, and his ult and Q rob back lot of the stats that Mord steals with his ult, that is if Mord ults first (Trundle is not stuck with Mord in Mord's ult; rather Mord is stuck with Trundle in his own ult). Trundle also has that pillar to make an already immobile champion like Mord vulnerable to ganks if Mord is more than halfway into the lane. Same with Olaf with his axes.

His Nether Blade still looks like a cut-out piece of cardboard, and the edges of his model still look a bit too rigid and straight. I mean just look at that skirt and those horns. Kinda looks like old Morgana. The blue skin also looks sickly. I agree that he needs a visual update. Btw, fan made design looks sick.

DPS stands for Damage per Second, which is a rate of measuring damage at a given span of time. For example, one can say that Zoe has a higher DPS than Fiddlesticks in the span of 2 seconds, as she can dish out more damage in 2 seconds due to the burst nature of her kit. But if we take into account the full damage combo (assuming both have around the same AP), Fiddle will dish more damage in a wider time frame, so his DPS will be higher. DPS is not a form of damage. It is a measurment of the rate of damage. DoT stands for Damage Over Time, which means that it is an ability that deals damage over a prolonged period of time. In other words, sustained damage. Burst damage, on the other hand, instantaneously deals damage, removing a huge chunk the enemy's hp. Meanwhile, DoT deals lower damage per second (lower DPS in short time frame), but accumulation of its damage ticks can add up to higher levels of damage output than burst damage (so higher DPS in longer time frame). Abilities like Cassiopeia's Twin Fang wouldn't be considered DoT as it is a targetable spammed spell, that basically functions the same as auto attacks, whereas, DoT tends to be a single ability that is stretched over time, and suffers from cooldown similarly to burst damage.

Your way and the OP's way of thinking is very one dimensional. Some of these Juggernauts have secondary roles, but their playstyles are different. There is always going to be a champion bound to break some of the criteria for whatever class he/she fits. Otherwise the champion pool would be dull and boring if everyone met the same exact criteria. It would just be replicating another champion without offering anything new. : That's too limiting a categorization I think. There are champs like Galio/Sylas/Kassadin/Ekko who are essentially mage/x hybrids, and itemize like mages. The whole melee thing has to do more with visual cohesion. If a character has a huge ass scythe then you expect them to use it to slash people up. Imagine Aatrox coming in with that sword and only using his fists instead. Although if they have to make him ranged, they could make it so his AAs produce slashing projectiles.
But all those you mentioned have hybrid roles. Ekko and Kassadin are assassins, Galio can be a tank, Sylas is a skirmisher/diver. When we are talking about pure mage, I don't think there is a single champion that is melee. Mages are supposed to be immobile, deal ap damage, offer some cc/utility, have some aoe ability, be heavily dependent on ability than auto (Azir may be an exception, but he has a secondary marksman tag) and not have tank stats (other than Vladimir), so in the laning phase, in order to be able to cs and not be completely overpowered by assassins, they must have the range advantage over them to poke them. Assassins on the other hand can close the gap from being poked, and deal burst damage that will devastate any squishy. Items don't reallly mean much.

: On the whole mechanical thing, well the most obvious answer is "to make him look more edgy and cool". But maybe, just maybe, they are considering making him melee, since a scythe wielding champ that doesn't use it is pretty goofy. Maybe they want to convey the fact that he's gonna shred you up rather than hit you with litle green dots.
Isn't he a mage? From what I know, most, or if not all, mages are ranged.

I think the Void, Icathia and Shurima are very closely intertwined. Kassadin, Kaisa and Malzahar (all those purple looking humanoid champs) have been Shuriman who were sucked into the Void. Jax is also from Icathia, before the Void swallowed his home.

I wish League would give champions with Afro-centric looks their own region. Demacia is clearly Western Europe inspired, while Noxus is Eastern Europe inspired. Ionia is Asian inspired, predominantly East Asia, as Karma is the only South Asian looking character, while the rest are all East Asian looking, though some are mysteriously masked (Zed, Jhin, Shen, Yi, Lee Sin), but their outfits scream Asian. Even Xin Zhao and Sona, who are Demacians who look more Asian, have origins to Ionia. Shurima got those champions who look more Egyptian and Middle Eastern. Qiyana also introduced Ixtal as potentially a land of those who have a more Amerindian looking. Freljord is exclusively Scandinavian inspired. Mt. Targon is Classical Greece inspired. Piltover, Zaun, and Bilgewater also have a more fictional Western society inspired atmosphere, with Illaoi being the only Polynesian looking character. Bandle city is reserved for yordles, the Void is reserved for extraterrestrial creatures, and Shadow Isles is reserved for ghost looking creatures. All we need is a new land for African looking champions. __

Is she like gutted or something? I take her top or midlane, and still do decent. But I use an unconventional rune page. I take Dark Harvest and make sure to have Ultimate Hunter and Presence of Mind and 40% cdr. By the time I max out Ultimate Hunter, her ult is up almost always. The damage nerf probably made her weaker, but I still manage, at least in gold. Lol.

Your list is a bit rough. I could see why you labeled these champs as control mages, but primarily, many of them are not. Normally, when I think of control mages, I think of a mage who has control over an area in the battlefield. Normally, they involve manipulating terrains or covering a wide area of aoe damage or cc without them having to jump in close range These abilities are normally the essential part of their kit, so they are normally integrated their regular abilities. {{champion:34}} has her wall and ult {{champion:63}} has his ultimate with its aoe damage {{champion:69}} has her grounding effect {{champion:74}} has his mini turrets and ult {{champion:127}} has her root and ult {{champion:25}} some what arguable, has her ult and root {{champion:61}} has her ball {{champion:13}} has the AOE damage on minion wave and ult {{champion:134}} her scattered balls {{champion:4}} not really {{champion:112}} has his stunning field and ult {{champion:115}} has his bombs and ult {{champion:143}} has her plants and ult You are missing potentially {{champion:268}} who has his soldiers and ult, and {{champion:163}} who has her rock field and ult. Out of any mages there whose kit revolve mainly around taking advantage of the battle field, I would say it {{champion:34}} {{champion:143}} {{champion:74}} {{champion:163}} {{champion:268}}. They make it hard for anyone to engage due to the field they set up, and the wide area they cover, without having to sacrifice much of their range, though the rework on Azir hurt him from fulfilling this role as much now.

But can't {{champion:83}} trap {{champion:86}} in the cage when Garen is in close in range. Then the E will almost be guaranteed, and the gouls will slowly do their work. Yorick also has decent sustain from his Q. Also, at level 6, I don't think Garen can just go all into Yorick, when he has Maiden.

{{champion:61}} {{champion:26}} both offer good damage and utility, scale well into late game, and are quite strong in solo queue. When your team is behind, utility is always useful. When your team is ahead, having both damage plus utility is the icing on the cake.

Some more non-East Asian inspired skins. There are already a lot of European and American influenced skins and champions, but there are also a lot of East Asian-inspired champions (almost all of Ionia, with the exception of Karma and Vastayas, except for Ahri) and skins like the Lunar Calendar (Chinese), Blood Moon (Japanese), Star Guardian (Japanese), K/DA (Korean), Academy (Korean), etc. Of course, this is obvious due to the player base, but it would be nice to see some representation of West Asians, South Asians, Southeast Asians and Central Asians. For example, the only non-East Asian inspired skin lines so far are Order of the Lotus (Indian-inspired), Sultan (Turkish-inspired), Nemesis Jax (Turkish-inspired) and Muay Thai Lee Sin (Thai-inspired). It would be nice to some ancient Persian-inspired skins, or Arabian-inspired skins that are outside of the Egyptian and Maghreb-inspired style that Shuriman skins have. For me, it was cool to see how Riot introduced Ixtal, a land inspired by Meso-America, with the release of Qiyana, giving champions like Malphite, Nidalee, Neeko, Rengar and Zyra more identity.

: Well you might need to point out what you find great about it. But because I'm a pessimist, I kinda doubt they will. For me, anyway, I liked Pantheon because it was a cartoon version of an actual panoply. What scraps of information we've gotten seem to be playing up the magic space parasite route, at least that's the vibe I got from the frankly terribly designed spearhead they showed in the teaser image. But on the plus side, he probably won't have that diaper anymore. It was stupid when 300 did it. It was stupid when Riot did it. And it remains stupid to this day.

Anyway, don't know about now, but {{champion:90}} seems to be an okay pick against him in midlane. I remember {{champion:50}} used to be a good counter too, but don't know much about it now. Back when Will of the Ancients was an item, I would take it on my {{champion:69}} and hardly ever lose to Vladimir.
